Magpie Feeding Time

My partner’s parents have been feeding a pair of Magpies that live in their area for the last few years. They come every day and get a feed of dog food. Sometimes they bring their chicks, but often it is just the two of them. I think this one is one of their most recent chicks (looks like a juvenile). I’ve tried several times to get photos of them, but they fly away so quickly once they’ve got the food!

Your magpies must be like ours, go near one of our magpies with a camera and the usually fly off be you get the lens cover off. I too have managed to catch them a few times though.
