I snapped this little bird in the Kowhai tree that is flowering beside the corner of Madras and Kilmore streets. I don’t know my birds, so if you know what it is please let me know 🙂
What a charming “little bird!” Don’t know what it is, but it certainly has brightened my morning today!

I would say it’s a (female) chaffinch. Lovely capture in amongst the kowhai blossom and skyblue.

Thanks Paul, looks very much like a chaffinch (at least according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Female_Chaffinch_800.jpg). I’m sure learning about birds thanks to this blog!
