A tranquil view of Lake Alabaster in the Hollyford Valley, surrounded by misty mountains and lush vegetation, with reflections on the water's surface.

This is not anywhere near Christchurch… 🙂 I’ve been tramping in the Hollyford Valley hence the absence of posts (and due to the fact that my scheduled posts failed thanks to a WP bug).

You can get to Lake Alabaster by walking for about 6 hours from the roadside entrance to the Hollyford Track. There’s a large doc hut you can stay at. If you ever get the chance, do it! As you can see, it is a photographer’s dream location. My brother and I tramped 50 minutes out of our way to see it, and we were rewarded with this stunning view and the multiple reflections. It had been raining off and on and was quite misty. But we sure didn’t mind, as look at what we saw!

Ahh the serenity! I’ve had a few tramps out to Lake Daniels and early morning uncrowded its an absolute stunner. Glad to hear you tore yourself away from technology – us web geeks need to do that every now & then!
