    It looks like an Abies veitchii. It grows even here up north (Finland).

    Using Lepis’ information, I gather it is a Silver fir tree that is native to the Japanese island of Honshu. Gorgeous purple cones.

    The Cedar of Lebanon is very similar, granted. However, I think the CoL foliage is not this “chunky” nor does its cones have this circular marking, but rather a cross-hatch marking.

    The US Dept Agric says that the veitchii is known a “christmas tree” and the alba variety is known as “silver fir”.

    The needles here are quite unlike any that I have previously seen.
