I’ve been out of Christchurch for 5 days down in Queenstown with no Internet access. The place I was staying at looked down into the Shotover Canyon, and we could walk down the hill to the river. A Shotover jet would come pass every 15 minutes or so, and I got this shot – taken while standing on some rocks.

The next day, we didn’t just watch the jets, we went for a ride! If you ever get to Queenstown you absolutely must experience a ride in a Shotover jet. The jet boats go down a very narrow river canyon and you feel like you might crash into the rocks at any moment. It’s thrilling, scary and one of those adventure activities that make you feel alive. Thankfully the drivers are incredibly skilled!

Maybe I would have gone in this many years ago but not sure now if I would.

    Love the bright red colour!

A great action shot. We saw the Shotover when we visited NZ in 2006, but our schedule prevented us from having a ride. it is on the top of our ‘to do’ list when we visit again.
