The Chalice sculpture is located in Cathedral Square. It is by sculptor Neil Dawson, and celebrates the new millennium and the 150th Anniversary of the founding of Christchurch and Canterbury.

It’s rather stunning, and I’ve captured it with the sun shining off it and the buildings surrounding it. I would normally photograph it with the Christchurch Cathedral in view, but the Cathedral has blue scaffolding around it at the moment due to a restoration process. Which is a bit inconvenient for photographers 🙂

    He also did the the piece in Civic Square in Wellington. I like this pic, its nice to have a different backdrop to the usual cathedral one, something a bit different.
