New Building on Moorhouse Avenue
There are a lot of new buildings on Moorhouse Avenue these days, but this building certainly stands out from the rest thanks to the decorative steel on it. I rather like it. It’s certainly very striking.
New Building on the Victoria and Salisbury Street Intersection
It has been a while since I have been down Victoria Street – it’s often a bit of a crush with the traffic, so I avoid it unless I have to go there. Today I decided it had been a while since visiting the street and it was high time I checked out some of…
The Terrace Development
I went for a coffee at Restart Mall today and got a surprise when I saw how much progress they’ve made on The Terrace since I’ve been away. Looking forward to the day it’s all finished. For an artist’s impression of what it will look like when finished see http://theterrace.co.nz I took the photos about…
The Tannery – Stage Two Now Open
The Tannery in Woolston is a boutique shopping arcade. In the last few days the second part opened up and it is now a considerably longer space. I went along today to check things out.
The Cake Shop at The Tannery in Woolston
There is now a cake shop at the Tannery in Woolston. I went along this morning to check it out with my photo club. When ever the photo club turn up it’s like the paparazzi have turned up! Though we do get very distracted by cake…and choosing just which cake to end up having was…
Watermark – The first part of the Avon River Precinct
Today I checked out the new board walk that has been developed along the Avon River as part of the central city re-development called the Avon River Precinct. This precinct is something to get very excited about, it’s going to be quite simply awesome. In fact, I’m more excited about this than any building going…
No more cordon in the central city
Today was the official day that all of the cordon in the central city was lifted. The cordon was put in place after the September 2010 earthquake and was extended to most of the central city after the February 2011 earthquake. Bit by bit the cordon has been lifted, with different streets accessible to pedestrians…
Transitional Cardboard Cathedral
The Trinity Window of the cardboard cathedral – it’s looking very colourful.
New Building Going up on Kilmore Street
This building has been going up for a few months – it’s on Kilmore Street and can also be seen from Colombo and Peterborough Street. It has some fairly impressive steel beams.
Square Re-Opens with Narrow Corridor
Today, a narrow corridor opened up in the Square, linking Gloucester and Worcester streets. I only found out about it later in the day so by the time I made it in there, the weather had changed from blue sky and sunny (like a lot of the other photos out there) to overcast and dull.…
New Regent Street
I popped into town to get a photo of the street with the building coming down – as to me it’s quite symbolic of where are are at the moment in Christchurch. Things are still changing, but some things have kind of stayed the same – we still have the beautiful New Regent Street. The…
Transitional Cathedral gets some Windows
The stained windows are now being added to the Transitional or ‘Cardboard’ Cathedral in Latimer Square. Apparently the Cathedral will be complete in late June.
