Meet Charlie and Izzy – I met them today at the Erica Reserve as I was taking photos of the area. They were highly entertaining and quickly became my subject of choice. Izzy is mad about the water and kept leaping into the pond there. Charlie is a rescue dog and Izzy is being baby-sat by Charlie’s owner (who I got talking to about the dogs). The two dogs get on very well from what Charlie’s owner told me, in fact I think they keep her on her toes (well they certainly made her run after them when they took off!). As you can see in the top photo, Charlie grabbed Izzy’s lead and they took off down the path!

Always love your these photos, I’m a sucker for the doggies! You not been to the Upshot Coffee cafe on Bridle Path Road lately? Still hoping for more dogs from there.

Hi Pete, I’m often walking past the cafe – Loco the dog there is so chilled out its hilarious. Would love to get a photo of the bulldog that’s there a lot, but they move so darn quickly!

I am glad to see that Izzy was having a good time while we were away. She is such a dirty dog. Thanks Nicky xxx

Charlie must be a common name for dogs around Chch (or an oddly strange coincidence?) as I have a long time friend living here in Chch and she also has a dog named Charlie that loves to accompany her on hikes and even follows her while on the mountain bike tracks at the port hills too, and her Charlie loves to go for swims as well …but looking at these pictures, this is not her Charlie!

I wonder if there is a database for registered dog names in the area (as they need their shots etc) and which names are the most common? Might be a fun future article for Star Canterbury 🙂

Love the way the lab is pulling her in as if to say “come on Izzy lets get mucky!!!”
