The cover being sewn up, Sumner today

Underneath this colourful knitted patchwork is a shipping container. Sumner resident Christine Reitze was the organiser of the idea (find out more on Facebook). She received knitted squares from volunteer knitters from all around the world and then sewed them up (what a job and a half!).  It looks fabulous and certainly brightens up the street. It will also be a daily reminder to the people of Sumner that others really care about what they’ve been through and how much they’ve lost due to the earthquakes.
