Hungry Sparrows

It’s been a cold wet and windy day today. There’s been flooding in parts of Christchurch as we’ve had so much rain. But at about 6.30pm the sun finally broke through and I noticed a lot of birds flitting around out on the deck – they were helping themselves to the seed in the bird feeder (they’ve not been coming much of late). There were so many birds in the tree waiting to take their turn at the feeder that I put some bread and butter out for them. They went a bit nuts! Apparently they can’t feed when the weather is so bad, so they would have been ravenous.
