I went into the CBD today – specifically the Victoria Street area. I watched with a few others the demolition of the building on the corner of Peterborough and Victoria (it was the Strategy building). Walking around this area of town is really weird – some shops have opened again like Gordon Smith & Son Fruiterer’s and the florist next door as well as the cafe across the road. All in the midst of rubble, vacant lots and buildings that are still standing but badly damaged. It’s a pretty surreal experience.

The ‘other half’ has noted that I am often quite badly affected by my trips into the CBD (by the way I just go to the bits that are not cordoned off). So to counter the negative of the images I’ve seen today, here’s a pretty picture that mother nature put on for us tonight!
