This is the entrance to Ferrymead Countdown. It’s been closed since the earthquake and as the sign demonstrates they really really don’t want people coming near the building. Even though I’m missing my local supermarket very much (please get it fixed asap), it still amuses me at how they have hung the sign to the upside down supermarket trolleys (there’s a whole bunch of them being used as a barricade). Ferrymead is pretty quiet at the moment – the book store Paperplus is open (and selling bread and milk!) and one of the cafes is operating out of a pre-fab building in the car park, but many other places are well and truly shut. Oh, but Mitre 10 Mega is very definitely open (has been for a couple of weeks). Wish they sold groceries 🙂
