Something a little abstract and grungy today. My photo club went to Addington and most of us spent all of our time photography the old Flour Mill.

I live in Eastern Canada. My uncle died in a mine in Rewanui in 1973. His name was John Leonard Coombes. He was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada in 1918, July 11. Someone told me that he might have worked in a flour mill in Christchurch, NZ between the late 1950’s and the 1960’s . Do you know how I can contact any of the flour mills to see if they had an record of him working there? thank you.

Hi Sharon, try contacting this organisation – http://www.flourinfo.co.nz/

Your uncle would probably have been a member of a union in New Zealand (very strong back in the 50’s so you could also try http://union.org.nz/.

    Hope you find something out.
