the-question

This wall is by the Christchurch Art Gallery. I was only aware of it today after leaving the gallery (I had a look through at the Sir Miles Warren exhibition – which I highly recommend locals get along to).

I’ve captured some of the answers in the gallery below.  A pretty tough question for some – with one comment “I don’t know honestly”. I’m guessing for some people it would be very difficult to narrow it down to just one issue they feel the most passionate about. I have participated in just one protest that I can recall – and that was against the Iraq War invasion – it got a big turn out in Christchurch. For me, I think injustice is what moves me the most. And that can cover rather a lot of things. I don’t entirely agree  with protests that are purely out of self-interest (want to be paid more money or want to pay less tax or fees etc).

If you want to share, feel free to leave a comment about what would propel you to join a protest.

If you are in Christchurch May 21st and want to learn about Human Rights check out the Human Right’s Film Festival. Some of it is grim viewing but I think we all need to be aware that for some life is extremely difficult but there is always hope.
