Looking at the distant background in the second photo, I can just make out Sugarloaf almost hidden behind Distinction Christchurch Hotel — Great views!
(There’s some interesting tracks (Mitchell’s Track comes to mind) on the other side of Sugarloaf – if you’re up for some good exercise – and the views from below the steeper side of Sugarloaf are amazing!)

Cathedral Square has a large number of buildings and statues that are registered as heritage items with Heritage New Zealand. Though many of them were damaged in the 2011 earthquake, it still worth visiting.
