  ‘Rise from Rubble’ mural, Ibis Hotel

  

  This stunning mural of a silver eye bird and kowhai flower can be seen on Hereford Street on the wall of the Ibis Hotel. It was painted by street artist Brandon Warrell and was part of a design competition run by the city council and voted on by public vote.   Street Art Festival, Street Prints Otautahi

  

  The YMCA in conjunction with the charitable trust PAINT hosted a street art festival recently with large-scale murals going up around the central city (and also New Brighton and Lyttelton). They are quite simply stunning, and I just love seeing these around the city.

  Otautahi: An Origin Story Comic Strip

  

  These colourful comic book panels can be seen on the wall alongside the convention centre building site. They are on Colombo Street and section that faces into the square.   The Terraces on Oxford Street

  

  It got to 33 degrees today – but it was actually rather pleasant down by the river and under one of the large trees. I was very grateful for those trees today! This bit of Christchurch is really starting to look appealing and the central city is busy again with workers.
